How to upload a database to cPanel

Uploading a database in cPanel is a useful tool for migrating a website or application to a new server or restoring a backup of your website or application. In cPanel, you can use the phpMyAdmin tool to upload a database. In this blog post, we will show you how to upload a database in cPanel.

Step 1: Log into your cPanel account to begin, you will need to log into your cPanel account. This can typically be done by visiting your website's URL followed by "/cpanel" (e.g. "www.example.com/cpanel"). You will then be prompted to enter your cPanel username and password.

Step 2: Scroll down to the "Databases" section and click on "phpMyAdmin" Once you have logged in, you will be taken to the cPanel dashboard. Scroll down to the "Databases" section and click on "phpMyAdmin". This will take you to the phpMyAdmin tool.

Step 3: Select the database you want to upload to on the phpMyAdmin page, you will see a list of available databases on the left-hand side. Select the database you want to upload your data to by clicking on its name.

Step 4: Click on the "Import" tab Once you have selected the database, click on the "Import" tab. This will take you to the import page.

Step 5: Browse for your database file on the import page, you will need to browse for your database file. You can do this by clicking on the "Choose File" button and selecting the file from your computer. Make sure that the file format is .sql.

Step 6: Click on the "Go" button Once you have selected your database file, click on the "Go" button

Depending on the size of the database you are uploading this may take a while. If your SQL file is large then we advise to compress this into a ZIP and then upload as this will be much quicker, for example if your SQL is 500mb compressing into a ZIP file will reduce the size down to around 10mb in total without losing or changing any data,
