How to add a CNAME record in cPanel

Adding a CNAME record in cPanel is like adding an A record and allows you to point a subdomain to another domain. Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.

  2. In the "Domains" section, click on the "Zone Editor" icon.

  3. Select the domain you want to add the CNAME record to from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click on the "Add Record" button.

  5. In the "Type" field, select "CNAME" from the drop-down menu.

  6. In the "Name" field, enter the subdomain you want to point to another domain.

  7. In the "CNAME" field, enter the domain you want the subdomain to point to.

  8. Leave the "TTL" field as is, or adjust it as needed.

  9. Click on the "Add Record" button.

  10. Confirm that the CNAME record has been added by checking the zone editor list.

As with the A record, it may take some time for the changes to propagate across the internet, this can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the TTL value you set.

Note that, some hosting providers may have different steps or interface to add the CNAME record, in that case please check the documentation provided by your hosting provider or contact the customer support.
